The "Moinho do Esteval" is a windmill dated of 1826, located on Montijo, is an emblematic example of windmills from the South of Portugal.
This windmill operated during 75 years and was rebuilt in 2000.

The "Moinho do Esteval", was built in 1826, is an emblematic example of windmills from the South of Portugal.
Built in the begining of the 19th Century, was integrated in a vast agricultural property named "Quinta do Moinho Velho".
This windmill operated until the begining of the 20th century, and was rebuilt by the comunality in 2000.
This robust building as 3 floors: the first floor was used for storage and in the second and third floor lays the Grinding mechanism.
On top of of the entrance door, we can see a ceramic tilework dedicated to "Nossa Senhora de Atalaia", which is layed in the direction of its Sanctuary.
