Conley’s was first organized in the Angola Schoolhouse and was called
Angola Methodist Episcopal Church. When incorporated in February, 1838, the first name was changed to Connelly’s ME Chapel in honor of the first pastor, William Connelly. He was a carpenter who was
responsible for the first church building in 1838. Eventually the name was shortened to Conley’s.
The current sanctuary was built in 1876. It was thoroughly renovated in 1901. More land was purchased in September, 1912. The sanctuary was
completely renovated again in 1944. The outside was repainted, new shutters were added and installation of new carpet inside was done in 1967. The current red pews and air conditioning were added in 1979.
