Cathedral City is quite diverse in its makeup. Considered a retirement haven by many, it also has a large migrant population that work the date orchards and other agricultural crops in the Coachella Valley.

Although significantly smaller in size than its western neighbor, Palm Springs, it has a larger population and ranks second only to Indio in terms of community inhabitants in the Valley.
