Westmar Memorial Park holds an array of mementoes from Westmar College, a college which operated in LeMars for 107 years. For five brief years the campus was associated with Teikyo University based in Japan before closing its doors for good. This beautiful gateway is composed of bricks from the former Dubs and Wernli Halls which were demolished in 2002. There is also a “family tree” medallion on the gate which explains the changes the college made over the years and another plaque with the college emblem. Some of the mementoes in the park include the college sundial, bell tower, gazebo, several sculptures and a time capsule. There is also a veterans’ memorial at the east edge of the park. Some of the buildings have been purchased and are utilized by some local businesses. Check out the other Waymarks at this park.
