Stan Hall worked on the design and engineering of the Cherokee II sailplane for some three years, designing it to meet the needs of amateur constructors. He made it available to homebuilders in 1956. It could be purchased as a completed sailplane, as a kit, or in the form of working drawings from which a homebuilder could construct one. The plans sold for $35.00.
Some 100 Cherokee II sailplanes were built, as shown in the FAA Registration Database, NTSB database and the Canadian, Australian and New Zealand registries.
