The sign dates back to 1999 and is in a sad state of repair. The sign depicts a coat of arms and the banner HERTFORDSHIRE’S BEST KEPT SMALL VILLAGE 1999.
Of most interest is the list of winners of the Hertfordshire Best Kept Small Village from 1957 to 1998. The same names, principally Westmill, Cottered, Therfield, occur in this list quite a few times!
