There are actually at least three ghost signs on this building at 2116 Western Avenue, but only one is still legible. That sign reads:
"Corkstone
Flooring Co.
Modern Plastic Flooring
2116 Western Ave. Seneca5176"
According to this website (
visit link) the sign must predate 1958 since that was the year that the Seneca telephone prefix ceased to be used.
This website (
visit link) has this to say about the other unreadable signs
"On the right, perhaps I see a saxophone or brass instrument. On the lower left, perhaps I see the word GAS. I can’t make out the manufacturer of the “builder of hats.”"
