Samuel Burk Burnett was the owner of the Four Sixes ranch in North Texas, along with ranches in Oklahoma and Mexico. The town of Burkburnett is named after him and used to be within the Four Sixes ranch. He was an oil man as well, when oil was discovered near Burkburnett. He made Fort Worth the headquarters of his financial enterprises (he was director and principal stockholder of Fort Worth National Bank).
S. B. Burnett had four children, two of which, Anne and Burk, are memorialized by this park.
