This location has been opened up as a green space in the Centre of Bradford near the historical part called Little Germany and the Cathedral.
It was originally a development site for the Broadway shopping centre. However Westfield, the developers abandoned work when the recession started to affect trading conditions.
The area was surrounded by a wooden hoardings and was quite an eyesore, and was very unpopular locally. Bradford Council, the developer Westfield, and the regional development agency, Yorkshire Forward, have agreed to each contribute roughly one-third of the cost of the project.
The garden is going to be a site for public art, and this mural was installed as the 2nd project in October 2010 by a local Bradford artist.
The Mural takes the form of the words Bradford Urban Garden interspersed with sights from the Bradford area. It was done in a Graffiti style using spray paint, sprayed onto the hoardings surrounding the development sign.
