The building is dated on a stone high up on the church wall. The "sign" says ... "McJohnston M.E. Church AD 1880"
According to a newspaper article written in 2005:
* The first bricks of the building were laid by church members on April 12, 1880.
* The church opened in December of 1880.
* Most of the stained glass windows in the church are original from 1880 and are a rare etched glass from France.
* The pulpit from 1880 still exists inside the building.
