This bell, which was used to ring shift endings, is now mounted and displayed in the Elsecar Heritage Centre Visitors building. Originally this site was the workshops for the Elsecar Colliery, and since the colliery and the workshops were closed it has been redevolped into a heritage centre. Most of the original buildings have been retained, and one of these has been made into the very nice visitors centre. There a craft shops, Tea Room, childrens play unit, printers, antique centre, railway and other attractions. The colliery was opened in 1795 and the workshops in 1850.
There is a web site with further information-
