Die Erdpyramiden sind im Waldertal zwischen Roppen und Arzl im Pitztal und wahre Wunder der Natur!
Sie sind bizarre Verwitterungsgebilde, die aus den Ablagerungen (Moränen) der letzten Eiszeit (vor 20.000 Jahren) stehen geblieben sind. Die Decksteine haben die "Lahntürme" vor weiterer Verwitterung geschützt.
Außer bei Serfaus und im Wipptal unterhalb der Europabrücke sind derartige Gebilde in Nordtirol nicht beschrieben. Am "Ritten" bei Bozen kommen sie allerdings in größerer Zahl und weltbekannt vor.
Sie finden diese Kleinode der Natur wenn Sie auf der schmalen Straße von Roppen kommend an der Südseite des Inn Flusses über den Weiler Waldele Richtung Walder Bach fahren. Bei einer Kehre empfiehlt es sich Halt zu machen, wenige Schritte zur Aussichtskanzel über der Innschlucht und der Schlucht des Walder Baches zu gehen, und den gewaltigen Tiefblick zu genießen.
Von hier können Sie der Straße bergauf folgen und kommen dann nach der Abzweigung nach Hohenegg zum Walderbach. Flußaufwärts bis zum Wasserfall, rechterhand sind zwischen den Bäumen die Walder Erdpyramiden zu erkennen. Wie Erdpyramiden entstehen, kann man am Steilhang auf der Roppener Seite sehen. An einem Modell kann man die Entstehung der Erdpyramiden sehen.
Wandert man weiter nach Hohenegg, sind dort weitere Türme mit "Hut" zu entdecken. Die Wanderung führt von Hohenegg über den Walderbach zum Sportplatz von Wald und abwärts an Aussichtspunkten und Kapellen vorbei wieder zum Ausgangspunkt zurück.
Sie kann natürlich auch vom großen Parkplatz am Sportplatz bei Wald begonnen werden, oder in Verbindung mit der Hängebrücke über die Pitztaler Ache oder den Luis-Trenker-Steig, beziehungsweise auch vom neuen Radweg durch die Roppener Schlucht erschlossen werden.

If you walk on to Hohenegg, where other towers with "hat" to be discovered. The trail leads from the Walderbach Hohenegg back to the sports field of forest and down to view points and chapels to the starting point.
You can of course be of ample parking at the sports field started in forest, or in connection with the suspension bridge over the Pitztal Ache or Luis Trenker, or be opened up by the new bike path through the gorge Roppener.
