Desiring to serve the Portuguese people, the Salvation Army officially began its work in Portugal on 28 January 1972. Since then it has continuously developed and is currently deployed from north to south: Porto, Castelo Branco, Sintra, Lisbon and São Brás de Alportel (Algarve).
