This barn quilt holds a special significance to the family on this farm. “Pale Star” was a 4-H project for two of the daughters, and the colors they chose are particularly significant. The red represents the school the girls attend, the red & yellow is symbolic of their older sister’s college (ISU), and the pale blue background matches the color of their house. The North West REC took responsibility for mounting the quilt on the red barn, and the family’s pastor added a special blessing to the artwork as neighbors and friends joined in the celebration.
“Pale Star” is found on the south end of the red barn on gravel 120th Street, a short jaunt west of K22. It is listed as #2 on the Plymouth County barn quilt tour map. While there, be sure to look for the blue and white eight pointed star on the side of the garage.
