The Renaissance Old Town Hall (Stará radnice), serving nowadays as a seat of Regional Museum, is concededly one of the most beautiful buildings in town Litomerice.
The Old Town Hall is originally Gothic structure, firstly recorded in the year 1397. After devastating fire it was during years 1537-1539 rebuilt in the Renaissance style. In the interior you can find several valuable architectonic and artistic elements - for example Renaissance stone console staircase or Assembly hall with wooden compartment ceiling and wooden wall-facing decorated by medaillons of Czech rulers and townspeople. On the outer building's buttress is stands a copy of the oldest outdoor sculpture in Litomerice, the statue of Roland. The original can be seen in the Museum exhibition. Two coats-of-arms are located in the arcade (Austraian empire and Litomerice. The building, rconstructed several times in the last four centuries, served as the Town Hall up to the year 1839. Nowadays it serves as a seat of the Regional Museum.
