This building is a three-story red brick warehouse building which faces south on California Avenue. The Oklahoma City MAPS project built the Bricktown canal at this location, so the basement of this building is now fronting on the canal, with the first floor retail above the canal level.
The building was constructed in sections - the central section in 1909, with additions to the east and west in 1928, and another addition to the east in the 1950s. The windows and roofline were constructed similarly so it is difficult to spot the various additions. All windows are set in pairs and have been rehabilitated to single-pane fixed windows. There are vertical pilasters rising from the ground to the roofline. The second and third floors are identical with a painted sign between reading "MILLER JACKSON COMPANY." Brick corbelling and layered brick designs decorate the upper wall.
The Miller-Jackson Co. was a wholesale distributor, dealing in hardware, housewares, farm supplies and general merchandise. Electronics was added during the 1920s. The current owner, great-grandson of the founder of the company, is now in real estate and property management and has converted the building to retail and office space. The club "Hooters" is one of the current tenants. This refurbished warehouse district of Oklahoma City has become a lively going-concern, with restaurants, clubs and tourist attractions, as well as a minor league baseball field.
Addressed 121 E. California in the Register nomination, the central entrance today is addressed 115.
