After leaving Fort Boise the Oregon Trail crossed the Snake River and then crossed the divide at Keeney Pass into the drainage of the Malheur River.
At this location the BLM has developed the Keeney Pass Oregon Trail Site with parking, interpretive signs, and a trail along a segment of the Oregon Trail to a viewpoint overlooking the route of the Oregon Trail. This section of the Oregon Trail was placed on the National Register on10/29/1975.
