Grundy County was the first county in Iowa to start the painted barn quilt project, a rural art form that has caught on to create more than 60 unique quilts. The idea started in 2003 to lure tourists into their area. It is not unusual to see bus tours or private motorists slowing down or stopping at one of these colorful farms.

This Evergreen Tree pattern is no surprise as the quilt appears on a barn at a Christmas tree farm. It is not officially part of the barn quilt tour but is easy to spot near its neighbor, the Maple Leaf barn quilt. It is found northeast of Grundy Center on the east side of Q Avenue.
