This wonderful Alpaca farm is located on P Avenue in rural Parkersburg. During our visit the alpacas were gathered in their nearby fenced corral keeping an alert eye out for visitors. These critters were sporting thick wool coats on this winter day, and I couldn’t help but think of the nice knitting yarn that might be made from their fur.
The AKG Enchanted Alpaca Ranch has been in business since summer 2002. They presently have 32 show quality alpacas which they breed and have for sale. Each one is named and has proper lineage documentation. The owner, learning to card and spin wool into yarn, is hoping to expand the business into fiber sales as well. The farm is operational 7 days a week, and visits may be arranged by appointment.
While visiting the farm, be sure to check out the great “Northwind” barn quilt, one of many found in Grundy County.
