«The Pego do Inferno Waterfall is the largest of a set of three waterfalls (Pomarinho Cascade and Tower Cascade) formed in the limestone tuffs existing Asseca river in Santo Estêvão, near Tavira, Algarve. Tufa is a rock type formed in karst water source that after losing carbon dioxide are supersaturated in calcium carbonate that accumulates at the bottom of streams, in waterfalls, ponds or other aquatic environment. This cascade, one of the most curious of Portugal, whose drop of water is not very high, around three meters, gives rise to a pond of olive green tones. Mediterranean and warm color that comes from the depth of its waters and the color of the terrain and vegetation where it belongs.»
