Phang-nga is a small, quiet town, capital of a not so small, but quiet Thai province, of the same name, lying ~700kms south of Bangkok. Tourism in Phang-nga suffers from proximity to the resort island of Phuket, and a lack of major sights (to be frank), however, a day or two in the town, touring a few bays, looking at a cave or three, would not be wasted.
In the centre of the city is the provincial bus station. There is no bus shelter or any formal bus building as such, rather the station is a large, paved open area, surrounded by bus agencies, tour companies and 'taxi' (tuk tuk and motor bike) drivers, waiting and ready to whisk you away.
Buses stop here on the long journey between Phuket (80kms, and an hour and a half south) and Bangkok, and intra-provincial buses also depart and arrive here from everywhere in the province. A few buses also make the journey to other neighbouring provinces. Not an overly busy terminal.
