Marker Name: Bulldozed by Glaciers
Marker Text: Imagine a massive glacier carving out this gorge during the ice age nearly one million years ago. In a cold, wet winter that lasted hundreds of years, a deep cap of snow accumulated on Steens Mountain. Snow compressed into masses of ice over a thousand feet thick. The relentless weight and downward momentum of the glacier gouged out the U-shaped valley of Kiger Gorge.
