Roche Bau 1 - Basel, Switzerland - Building Buildings on Waymarking.com

Multinational pharmaceutical company Hoffman-La Roche made the plans for a new headquarter public in December 2009 after a former plan had been rejected. The building permit of the local authorities arrived on February 25th 2011. The demolition of the former production building at the location had already started in January. In March 2011 the excavation starts. It is expected to be finished in 2014 and ready to use by end of 2015.

The building is just called "Bau 1 (building 1)"; it was planned by the star architects Herzog & De Meuron. It will have a height of 175 meters (41 floors) and be the working place of over 2500 employees. Planned building costs are CHF 550 mio (currently 600 mio $ US).
