Linderhof Castle - Castles on Waymarking.com

This is really the only one of the "Ludwig" castles to have been finished. Like Herrenchiemsee, it was modelled after Versailles and yet has much more modest "ambitions" than Herrenchiemsee. Perhaps, for that reason, it succeeds as a beautiful royal residence. Like Versailles, this castle began as a hunting lodge and was completely rebuilt. A visit of the fully furnished inside is by regularly scheduled guided tour (available in English).

This castle, its beautiful landscape park and its various "follies" are well worth a visit.
