The name notwithstanding, this is the Phuket province provincial museum. It was established in 1985. The museum covers the pre-history and historical period of Thailand, and the history of Phuket island. There are a wide range of artefacts and pictures of artefacts on display, plus several diorama. If I had to make a criticism, the museum does try and cover a great deal of territory.
The museum has a strict no photography policy. The museum is located approximately 15kms north of Phuket Town (usually Thai museums are in the capital city of each province). This museum was intentionally located near the statues of the two heroines who saved Phuket from the invading Burmese.
The entry price reflects the usual levy farang pay: 20 baht for a Thai citizen (~us50c), versus 120 baht for a foreigner.
