Dates: Installed 1894.

Sept. 20th, was in the first line of battle in this position until about 12:00 M. when Gen’l. Wood's Division vacated the line on its right. Then being assailed in front and on its right flank was driven beyond the range of hills west of here and became separated from the left of the Army. Later in the day Lieut. Col. Ward was wounded. The command thereafter devolved on Major Butterfield. The detachment of the regiment rallied on Snodgrass hill and fought till the Army retired at night. Loss, killed 16: wounded 114: captured or missing 21: total 151.
Description: A rectangular, rough-edged commemorative marker with a curved relief of a Civil War soldier. He wears a uniform and cap and faces to the right, kneeling on his proper right knee and holding his rifle on his proper right side with both hands. Carved laurel and oak leaves adorn the top arches above the relief. The marker is topped with a rough-edged cap with a medallion of the State of Ohio seal in the center. Above the medallion is an acorn. The marker is set upon a rectangular, rock-faced base.
