The coordinates are the entrance to the Riverwalk, a pedestrian and bicycle crossing over the Willamette River. It was constructed by the Portland Office of Transportation in partnership with Union Pacific Railroad Company (Spring 2001).

Steel Bridge (1912) is the only double-decked telescoping vertical lift bridge in the world. Its upper deck is used for lightrail, vehicles and pedestrians while the lower deck carries about eight trains a day. Because the bottom deck is only 25 feet above water, it lifts often for river traffic. It slips up-and-down inside the bottom of the bridge's top deck, without interrupting top deck users (see photo).

Instructions for logging waymark: visit the Steel Bridge, and get a photo or two of it. At least one of the photos must be of you and/or of your GPSr with the bridge in the background. Include any additional interesting information about the bridge in your log if you wish.

Visit Instructions:
1) After you've found a vertical lift bridge, go visit it, get the coordinates, a picture or two of it, and if it is in use or not still as a lift bridge.
Then log it and post your pictures! At least one of the photos must be of you and your GPS there with the bridge in the background. (No old vacation shots or photos off the internet!)
