En las últimas décadas del siglo XIX y principios del XX, la sierra de Guadarrama es frecuentada únicamente por algunos naturalistas y científicos pioneros que abordan el estudio de su riqueza geológica (José McPherson, Casiano del Prado, Lucas Fernández,...), entomológica (Mariano de la Paz Graells, Ignacio Bolívar,...) o botánica (Willkomm,...), además, claro está, de las gentes que allí viven y realizan sus labores, como gabarreros, hacheros, neveros o pastores, o que la atraviesan por los puertos en sus desplazamientos entre ambas mesetas. No faltaban tampoco algunos bandidos famosos como el Tuerto Pirón, último bandolero del Guadarrama. Hubo también pintores, escritores y educadores (Giner de los Ríos, nada menos) asiduos de los senderos y cumbres de la sierra.
Sin embargo, entre los primeros deportistas que abordan las alturas serranas encontramos ciudadanos alemanes, como el relojero Ferdinand Ganter que subía a la montaña ya en la década de 1870 y que fundó el primer grupo de montañeros de la sierra. En este grupo habiá otros alemanes como Albert Maurer o Karl Coppel. Se dice que estos primeros montañeros gustaban de refrescarse durante el verano en este lugar en las aguas del arroyo de la Navazuela, a media altura del valle de la Fuenfría, en sus recorridos por la zona. De aquí ha quedado en la tradición el topónimo con el que todavía hoy conocemos este pequeño salto de agua.
Justo encima de la "Ducha de los Alemanes" hay una pasarela de madera y, unos cincuenta metros aguas arriba del arroyo, hay otro salto, más pequeño, de sólo unos dos metros de caída. También aguas abajo de la Ducha, a medio camino de la carretera de la República hay una bonita cascada en forma de cortina.

In the last decades of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, the Sierra de Guadarrama is frequented only by a few pioneering naturalists and scientists approach the study of its geological wealth (José McPherson, Casiano del Prado, Lucas Fernández,...), entomological (Mariano de la Paz Graells, Ignacio Bolívar ,...) or botany (Willkomm ,...), in addition, of course, the people who live and perform their tasks, as gabarreros, loggers, snowfields or pastors, or that pass through the ports on the move between the two plateaus. Some bandits were there, too famous as Tuerto Pirón (one-eyed Pirón), last bandit Guadarrama. There were also painters, writers and educators (Giner de los Ríos o Cossío, no less) frequent the trails and summits of the mountains.
However, among the first sportsmans to address the mountain heights are German citizens, as the watchmaker Ferdinand Ganter who climbed the mountain and in the 1870 and founded the first group of climbers on the mountain. In this group were other Germans like Albert Maurer and Karl Coppel. It is said that these early climbers liked to cool during the summer in this place in the waters of the stream of Navazuelos, halfway up the valley of the Fuenfría, in his travels throughout the area. Just above the "Shower of the Germans" is a wooden walkway, about fifty yards upstream of the creek, another jump, more small, only about two meters high. Also downstream of the shower, halfway to the "road of the Republic" is a beautiful waterfall in the form of shade.
