NW0168 - USCGS J128 RESET, Oregon - U.S. Benchmarks on Waymarking.com

This benchmark is located at the Pelota Fronton interpretive display in Jordan Valley, Oregon. The cap was originally located in the cornerstone of the old Jordan Valley Hotel. When the interpretive display was built the old cornerstone was placed in the sign base. The cap was orginally set vertically in the cornerstone by the U.S. Coast & Geodetic Survey in 1934 and was marked J128. When the cornerstone was relocated here.

RECOVERY NOTE BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1963 IN JORDAN VALLEY. AT JORDAN VALLEY AT THE JORDAN VALLEY HOTEL, SET VERTICALLY IN THE SOUTH FACE OF THE SANDSTONE CORNER STONE, 47 FEET EAST OF THE CENTER LINE OF U.S. HIGHWAY 95, 1.5 FEET EAST OF THE SOUTHWEST CORNER OF THE HOTEL, AND ABOUT 4 FEET HIGHER THAN THE SIDEWALK.
