The Rio Tinto Stadium is the home of the MLS soccer club Real Salt Lake. The structure is large modern stadium with seating for over 20,000 people. The ground breaking ceremony took place August 12,2006 and was completed October 9,2008. In addition to playing soccer, there are concerts, snowmobile races, and other forms of entertainment at the stadium. This is the first major sporting facility in the state of Utah. The Rio Tinto Stadium is just 15 minutes from downtown Salt Lake City and 25 minutes from SLC International Airport.
