The vision of a mosaic to beautiful the city was born in 2004, and after three years became a reality. Over 1000 students combined their efforts in designing the 500' artwork which now resides on the retaining wall at 9th Street and River Boulevard near Fawick Park. Using the themes of peace, unity, and diversity children from preschool to high school grades used brilliant colors to paint the original collage. Tiles, labor and quartzite capstones for the wall were all donated. The mosaic was completed in stages over several years under the direction of the Sioux Empire Arts Council with a ribbon cutting ceremony in September of 2007.
