Opened in the 1840s as a brewhouse the (Tally Ho) brewery was used until the 1900s. The innkeeper was Edwin Arthur Marshall who was also the brewer in 1892 and 1896. A sign read ‘Hudson’s Noted Ales and Stout’ after the brewery finished and the pub was extended.

In the 1960s the pub was owned by Greene King, hosted by Tom and Maureen McAllister who also introduced a Bed and Breakfast.

A hunting scene was depicted on the original sign which is in keeping with the name! Then a Spitfire appeared on the changed sign originally with its undercarriage lowered in an attacking position. Today a better picture of a Spitfire is shown.

Thai food was served for a period of four years and today it is under further management.
