Interestingly there is a clock face on only 2 sides of the steeple. There is one on the front of the steeple that faces the old market place, and one that faces the rest of the town centre.
However the side of the steeple that faces away from the town centre does not have a clock face on it. I guess it wasn’t considered important for people away from the town centre to know the time.
The steeple was built in 1842 on an older church building. The main part of the church was then rebuilt and completed in 1876. The church website shows a picture of the steeple, attached to the old church and it didn’t have a clock then. It may have been added when the church was rebuilt.
