Here is one of the paragraphes from the sign (quoted):
"Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary
Sanctuary waters are frequented by more kinds of marine mammals that any body of water of comparable size. This includes more than 27 species of cetaceans (whales, dolphins and porpoises). Scientists classify whales into two main groups, baleen and toothed. Of the baleen whales, migrating gray whales are the most frequently sighted. They may be seen during the months of Decmber through April. The fin whale is seen in the Sanctuary during the months of May to October. In recent years, more numerous sightings of blue whales also occurred from May to October. Minke whales may be sighted in Sanctuary waters during all months but November and December. Toothed whales found in the sanctary include the killer whale and the pilot whale."
