The memorial is of an obelisk design with a winged figure holding the body of a man and mounted on the plinth. I think the winged figure may be Athena, goddess of heroes and heoric endeavour. It was erected in 1913 in the memory of Parkin Jeffcock and others whom were killed in further explosions on 13th December 1866.
