The Municipal House (Obecní dum) is a major civic landmark and concert hall in Prague, and an important building in architectural and political history in the Czech Republic. It stands on the Námestí Republiky. It was built in 1905-1912 by the architects Osvald Polívka and Antonín Balšánek.
The large exedra under the main cupola is decorated with a semicircular scene on the glass colorful mosaic Apotheosis of Prague according to a painting by Karel Spillar. The picture is adorned with a golden sign with a quotation by Svatopluk Cech which is still relevant today : ”Hail to you Prague ! Brave the time and malice as you have resisted all the storms throughout the ages”.

Celní fasáde Obecního domu v ose kupole vévodí vznosný portikus hlavního vstupu s reprezentacním polokruhovým balkónem prístupným z Primátorského sálu v 1. patre. Velkou exedru pod hlavní kupolí zdobí polokruhový obraz ze sklenené barevné mozaiky Apotheosa Prahy podle kartonu Karla Špillara. Obraz je v rámu exedry lemován zlatým nápisem se stále aktuálním citátem Svatopluka Cecha: „ZDAR TOBE PRAHO ! VZDORUJ CASU ZLOBE JAK ODOLALAS VEKY BOURÍM VŠEM !“.
