The Ashe County Courthouse bell is located at the south entrance to the courthouse. The bell was cast in 1885 by the Henry McShane Company of Baltimore, Maryland. The McShane Bell Company was founded in 1856 and is still in business today. Since 1856 the McShane Bell Company has produce more than 300,000 bells.
