As well as being the main office building it also has a branch on the ground floor of the building to serve the public. The Leeds Building Society is the 5th largest building society in the UK.
The building is on the corner of Albion Street and the Headrow. The Headrow is the main East to West thoroughfare through Leeds with lots of fine buildings. This Art Deco clock fits in well along this street.
