As for the new bridge project with the 1978 and inaugurated in 1982, Edgar Cardoso established a bridge-type suspended inclined risers, 405 m long viaduct with a southern me another 630 just north of 315 m. Taken together make up a length of 1421m,

46 m if we consider the encounter to the north and 25 m to the south.
This bridge has a total development risers of 405 m, divided into three legs where the legs are 90 m and the extreme central leg 225 m. The board, a mixture of steel and concrete, is supported by two towers self-stable, two pillars of transition and six pairs of risers in each tower with continuity on these.

Consisting of two lanes of 7.50 m each, two rides of 2 m each and a central reservation with a m. Thus, the cross section involves a platform 20 m in width, with the slope of the carriageways of 1.5% to the outside except the overpass on the left bank where the slope rises to 5% since the stroke develops a curve radius of 614 m plant.

In terms of the longitudinal development board has in its buffer zone two joints that define a central leg simply supported 30 m in length. The board also has a central leg isostatic supported side of the left margin on fixed supports and the other side in support furniture.
The platform consists of a steel-concrete composite structure in which metallic elements constitute a system with orthotropic modules, usually 10 feet long and 17 m wide.

The slab of reinforced concrete beams is based on the stiffness and the stringers, consisting of two consoles at the extremes, two small bays with 0.50 m between the elements of the twin beams of rigidity and five bays of 3.20 m between stringers . The slab thickness is 0.20 m on the support and 0.13 m in vain.
The suspension cables are arranged in a fan, symmetrically to each side of the towers, and are tied to the board, more specifically at the stiffness of beams, with a spacing of 30 m. The anchor cables were made by a system developed by Prof.. Edgar Cardoso, consisting of a piece of molten steel filled with a mixture of epoxy resin and steel grit.
The risers have continuity between the extremes of the legs and central towers being fitted with saddles on top of diversion. The cast steel saddles, are based on two sets of steel plates, which were interposed between the tower and the base of these as a means of regulating forces of the cables.

The suspension cables are made of steel wires, with 1600-1800 MPa tensile strength and 5 mm in diameter. The longer cables are composed of 900 wires, wire for 540 intermediate and shorter by 340 wires. The risers are protected by steel wire coil, galvanized and painted

The two towers are of reinforced concrete and amount to about 80 m above mean sea level. They are composed of four elements rectangular hollow, inclined longitudinal and transverse, united in pairs at the top and a large platter and square hollow section placed at the top of the dam. These elements are also linked to about half the time, the level of support from the board, for laminar elements.

The viaducts of left and right margins are composed of a board into four beams with slab vigada longitudinal removed from 5.20 m, with continuous range from 45 m, the slab of the board extends cantilevered swing with 2.30 m ; beams of variable height of 2.80 m to 2.30 m, are prestressed and slab along with variable thickness from 0.22 m to 0.18 m, and prestressed transversely, the beams are connected by crossbars 15 m away
The meeting of the left bank consists of a closed box. The horizontal forces transmitted to the board meeting are transferred by the massive shoring anchors embedded in the ground.
The meeting was the right margin, as envisaged in the project, run as a wall of his forehead and two walls of the avenue, having been removed from the lands of the masonry walls and a structure made of slab (board), beams and pillars that support the loads road. In the pillar of the transition board is supported by movable metal type devices with roller guidance.
