The church was built between 1828 and 1830. It was built using a fund of money raised by public subscription after the defeat of Napolean Bonepart at the battle of waterloo.
It replaced an earlier chapel of 1630, which itself had replace a chapel built in 1584.
The clock has 3 faces on it.
