The sculpture shows two hurlers with sticks called hurleys going after the ball called a sliotar. The All Ireland Hurling Championship is considered one of the biggest sporting events in Ireland and 1995 was the first year County Clare had won the Championship since 1914. (County Clare won again in 1997)
