The history of this important coastal fortification can be traced back to the late 19th century. Fort Mott fortifications, of which there are plenty, rely on a self- guided tour with interpretive signs to teach the visitor about the establishment and function of this fort. The history museum gives the visitor a view of the artifacts of the late 19th century and early 20th century including communication devices, artillery and ammunition, maps, pictures, uniforms and other important particulars. The museum is small, has a few turns but takes about 10 minutes to view.
