Bissell Street Water Tower

The Bissell Street Water Tower was constructed in 1886 and stands 196-feet tall. Constructed of brick with terra cotta and carved stone detailing. This water tower was constructed to to regulate water pressure from erratic steam driven pumps rather than for water storage. The tower's designer was William Eames, of Eames and Young. The tower went out of service in 1913 when more reliable electric pumps went into service.
