This memorial is in the memorial garden on Norfolk Gardens down the side of the City Hall. It is on the far side of the small garden, where a new bus station has just been built on Hall Ings. It is partially covered by a large Cordyline plant that has spread since its original planting.

According to his obituary in the Independent Newspaper, Bob Cryer was a well liked and respected Member of Parliament, and had represented Keighley between 1973 and 1984. He was also a Member of the European Parliament between 1984 and 1989 representing Sheffield.

He was also the first MP other than the speaker to be seen after the televising of the parliament started on 21st November 1989.

Outside of his political career he was a great steam locomotive enthusiast and helped to found the Keighley and Worth Valley Preservation Society, which now owns a railway line abandoned by British Rail. He helped to facilitate the use of this railway line in the popular film 'The Railway Children'.

There are a number of memorials in the garden behind fairly low hedges. There is no indication that the memorials are here and it is easy to miss them.

The small plaque stands on the ground and is black with gold lettering. It was recently re-located to here as part of the preparations for the new city park area.

The inscription is in black lettering reads.
