The statue is in the courtyard of a California State building on Van Ness Ave.

The sculpture shows the Spirit of Hungary, with arms raised to the sky and a kneeling mother who mourns the body of her fallen young.

The plaque reads: "Glory to the Vanquished "The Magyar spirit shall abide immortal and rise triumphant to redeem mankind."
