This new bank building at 122 S. Main St was designed by noted architect William Waters. The Three-story building housed professional offices on the second floor, most notably doctor's offices, with the Knights of Pythias "Castle Hall" on the third floor.
In 1906 the bank changed its name to the First National Bank of Waupaca. By 1910 the bank was in financial crisis. The Old National Bank offered to take over there assets and the stockholders agreed. The Old National Bank was in trouble in the early 1930's and when Franklin Roosevelt's administration declared a "bank holiday," the Old National Bank closed and failed to reopen.
On March 15, 1934, the federal government gave its approval to open the new First National Bank in the Old National Bank building at 122 S. Main Street. The bank remained open in the old National Bank building untill 1973 when it built a new building and moved to 111 Jefferson Street where they are today.
This building was bought by Peterson Reality in 1973.
