The fact that the building was refurbished and expanded 48 years after its original erection is testament to the fact that Great Horton was expanding quite rapidly at this time.
The village originally started to grow when a turnpike road was built connecting to the large town of Halifax. The expansion then continued after Horton, which also includes Little Horton, was incorporated into Bradford in 1847.
It is still used as a church to-day and is Grade II listed building.
