The Rosecroft estate, built in 1912, was the home of the Alfred D. Robinson family. Robinson used the property to research and grow begonias. The gardens occupied at least half of the city block around the mansion, but now only the house and outbuildings remain of the original estate. Rosecroft boasted a number of mature trees, including two Chinese evergreen elms planted by Robinson and Kate Sessions, San Diego’s eminent horticulturist.

Numerous references were found to Rosecroft Mansion being used as a venue for wedding receptions. The web site reference for such functions now seems to be obsolete.
