Jambatan Chan Koon Cheng
The bridge was built in 1908. Drawings of the area in the 1830s show the river was originally spanned by drawbridges to allow the sailing ships to proceed upstream.
Looking Upstream
Information about the bridge is scarce, I do know it was upgraded in 2008, along with the other 7 bridges that cross the river.
Looking Downstream.
The bridge carries Jalan Kampung Pantai across the river and facilitates access to Kampung Pantai in Chinatown from the city centre.
The church of St Francis Xavier seen in this photo has developed a lean over the years as the foundations are slowly sinking.
