NPS interpretive sign about the Bredell Family Cemetery. The sign is located adjacent to the parking lot for the Nez Perce National Historic Park Visitor Center at Spalding.
Marker Name: Bredell Family Cemetery

Marker Type: Roadside

Marker Text:
Here the resting place for three generations of Bredells overlooks the river terrace where they lived from 1861 to 1927. The cemetery’s location next to a parking lot may appear unusual, but the Bredell family was part of a thriving Nez Perce community here in the Spalding area long before this became a national park site. Caption for photo on sign: Noah Bredell was one of the last surviving family members. His life was representative of the mixing of cultures. He raised racehorses and owned the stables that provided horses to the U.S. Postal Service for stagecoach mail deliveries to the upper Clearwater valley.
